GBS Agricultural Services Public Company Limited (G.B.S ASP) was established in 2016 as a public company with the purpose of assisting farmers in addressing the challenges of labor shortages, production difficulties, and farm related service constraints in the agricultural sector.
The company aims to expand contract farming operations in an organized manner by cooperating with farmers to overcome agricultural challenges. In addition to farming, G.B.S ASP also carries out various farm-related services. The company’s current activities are as follows:
(a) Import and Distribution of Agricultural Machinery and Inputs
The company engages in the sale and distribution of agricultural machinery to meet the needs offarmers. G.B.S ASP is an authorized dealer of agricultural machinery from KUBOTAMyanmar Co., Ltd., with showrooms opened in Monywa, Sittwe, and Naungcho.
For the fiscal year 2024–2025, revenue from the sale of agricultural machinery accounted for80.89% of the company’s total income.
The company also continues to expand its import and distribution of agricultural machinery andinputs to support the development of Myanmar’s agricultural sector and to provide farmers withaccess to world-class equipment for food and crop production.
(b) Distribution and Export of High-Quality Crops
The company purchases and distributes agricultural produce such as rice, various types of beans (black gram, green gram, pigeon pea, and matpe), and maize, which are grown in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Bago Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Magway Region, and Shan State.
The crops are cleaned using modern machinery and exported as part of the company’s import-export operations. The company is expanding its distribution of high-quality agricultural produce to both local and international markets.
For the fiscal year 2024–2025, revenue from the distribution of agricultural crops accounted for 18.95% of total income.
(c) Contract Farming Operations
G.B.S ASP focuses on contract farming in Myanmar’s key agricultural sector, primarily with rice, matpe, green gram, pigeon pea, and maize.
Contract farming is an agreement-based system in which farmers and the company enter into pre-agreed contracts and regulations for agricultural production. Under this arrangement, the company provides farmers with seeds, technology, and financial support, while farmers agree to sell their produce that meets the required quality standards back to the company at an agreed price.
This system benefits farmers by securing market assurance, while ensuring companies have a reliable supply of quality raw materials.
For the fiscal year 2024–2025, the company has engaged 178 client contracts under its contract farming program, generating 0.16% of total revenue.
Accordingly, G.B.S ASP continues to promote farmer-centered projects that align with the company’s goals and vision by integrating modern technologies into agriculture. The company has been collaborating with farmers in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Bago Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Magway Region, and Shan State under its contract farming program.
